Catapult Learning has developed a remedial algebra program, Catapult Learning Algebra. This program is based on the national standards for algebra established by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics as presented in Principles and Standards for School Mathematics. Catapult Learning Algebra targets a culturally and economically diverse student population and is designed to be delivered in a small group setting.
In the development of this program, Catapult Learning reviewed the current research on effective instructional intervention practices for students who are struggling to achieve academic success in the regular classroom. This research indicates that the critical element in addressing the instructional needs of those students most at risk for academic failure is to ensure that the instructional components are systematic, intensive and explicit and are provided in small group or one-on-one formats. As a result, the Catapult Learning Algebra Program has a scope and sequence of skills instruction focused on core skill instruction that is systematic, intensive, and explicit in nature, and that is provided in a small group setting. The overarching goal of this program is for students to become more effective and efficient with their algebra skills and knowledge and to apply these newly acquired skills directly to the classroom.
